A Gold Coast man has been charged with allegedly making death threats towards a federal parliamentarian.
The 56-year-old is accused of making threats to kill the politician in a phone call.
“The AFP’s National Security Investigations team began investigations into the man after receiving a report from a government-funded service provider about an incoming phone call which allegedly contained threats to kill a federal parliamentarian,” the AFP said.
The man was arrested after Australian Federal Police raided a home in Robina on Thursday.
The man was charged with one count of using a carriage service to make a threat, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in court in January, 2027.
