A Gold Coast man has been charged over an alleged extortion and stalking plot targeting former business associates.

Police allege the 39-year-old deployed bogus “debt collectors” to the home of a 28-year-old man and 27-year-old woman in Mermaid Waters on July 18.

It’s alleged they demanded a significant amount of money before the couple was transported to a café where they met with the man, who they had previously been involved in a Broadbeach business venture with in 2025.

A week later, police say the same two men attended the house of a 47-year-old man at Currumbin Waters, where they demanded a significant amount of money and made threats.

The 47-year-old had also been involved in a restaurant business venture with the 39-year-old man from 2016 to 2021.

Following investigations, police yesterday executed a search warrant at a home on Marine Parade in Miami where they allegedly uncovered a stash of drugs.

The man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with three counts each of extortion and unlawful stalking and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing prescription medication.
