A Gold Coast man has fronted court in WA over his alleged involvement in a major transnational drug syndicate.
28-year-old Johnson Rowe was arrested along the Gold Coast Highway earlier this week and extradited to Western Australia on Good Friday to face multiple drug related charges.
A warrant had been issued for his arrest in December last year, after police in WA seized a record $6 million in drug money in a raid in Perth back in 2020.
A total of $32 million was seized throughout the whole 2020 police operation.
Mr Rowe has been charged with money laundering, conspiring to sell 50kg of dangerous drugs, including 30kg of methamphetamine, 10kg of cocaine and 10kg of heroine.
Police alleged Mr Rowe is a major player in the syndicate and coordinated the sale of drugs through a cipher phone while he was on the Gold Coast.
Mr Rowe was denied bail earlier by a Gold Coast magistrate earlier in the week before he was extradited to Perth.
He fronted court briefly yesterday where the case was adjourned until early May.
The cash seizure is reportedly one of the largest in Australian history.
