A Gold Coast woman has described being left speechless after realising she had become the city’s latest millionaire.
The Burleigh mum took home $1 million in Monday night’s Weekday Windfall draw, the only jackpot winner from this draw.
The woman said she checked her ticket shortly after the draw and nearly had a ‘heart attack’ when she realised she had won.
“I was beside my husband and my eldest son, and I immediately jumped on my son and said, ‘I think I’ve just won $1 million! Oh my god!” the woman told officials from The Lott.,
“My husband doesn’t believe it, and he still doesn’t! I can’t wait to prove him wrong!
“I’ve been playing the lottery since one of my sons was born. Gosh, I’ve been playing for 16 years! “I’ve got goosebumps, and a tingle down my spine!”
After a celebratory dinner and a glass of champagne, the woman plans to use some of the money to help her son by a car.
“My son’s been saving up for his first car, but he doesn’t quite have enough. But now, I can buy him one! He actually started browsing for cars last night,” she laughed.
“I did tell him not to get too carried away, though – everyone knows you beat up your first car!
“I’m also planning to help out the family and give everyone some money. I love helping others, and have always given back to charities.
The woman’s winning entry was bought online at The Lott app.
