Police have charged a second person in relation to the death of a newborn baby in Logan in 2024.
A 24-year-old Gold Coast woman, who police say was known to the infant, was arrested by Detectives from the Logan Child Protection and Investigation Unit on Wednesday.
The Southport woman has been charged with one count of cruelty to children under 16 years (Domestic violence offence).
It comes just days after a 25-year-old man was charged with murder over the death of the 3-week-old boy, who died in hospital in July 2024.
“Detectives undertook an extensive and protracted investigation and recently received results from comprehensive medical examinations, which indicate the child sustained internal injuries” Queensland Police said.
The woman is due to front Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 4.
Investigations are ongoing.
