A work function at a popular Gold Coast tourist attraction has turned ugly after a fight broke out between two colleagues.

The males were at a function at Top Golf on Saturday night before a verbal argument broke out.

One of the men is then accused of swinging a golf club at his colleague, hitting him in the face.

“Obviously, a golf club to the face can cause significant injuries, and one of the males has received fractures to his jawbone and required hospitalisation,” Superintendent Brett Jackson told the ABC.

A 35-year-old Deception Bay man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

He’ll front Southport Magistrates Court on June 9.
