A man’s been charged over an alarming attack on a young boy at a Paradise Point park.

The 50-year-old man approached the 11-year-old at the Esplanade South Park at around 3pm Wednesday and initiated a conversation.

He then allegedly repeatedly touched the boy’s shoulder and attempted to lead him away.

A passer-by intervened and notified police, who attended the scene and arrested the man nearby.

The alleged offender has now been charged with one count of common assault.

He’s scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on 12 August.
