A man has now been charged over the alleged theft of a much-loved family dog from the Gold Coast.
Bowie, a blind Australian shepherd, was allegedly taken from a home on Regatta Parade in Southport in July.
The family’s SUV was also allegedly taken in the brazen daylight robbery.
The disappearance of Bowie sparked a major appeal for public help with his alleged dognapper spotted on CCTV at a service station in Yamba.
The vehicle was later tracked to Macksville where Bowie was located inside.
A 48-year-old man was arrested and charged with numerous offences by NSW Police, while Bowie was reunited with his family the following day.
The man has since returned to Queensland and was taken into custody on Wednesday night.
He’s been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, entering a dwelling and committing an indictable offence.
The man will front Southport Magistrates Court on January 11.
