A man has been seriously injured after being hit by a falling power pole in Broadbeach.
The 48-year-old suffered head, chest and limb injuries in the incident along Old Burleigh Road just before 9am.
The man was conducting tree clearing when he was struck, and it’s understood a branch had fallen on the pole causing it to fall.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Energex has confirmed the pole wasn’t an Energex pole and was actually a privately-owned pole owned by the homeowner.
An Energex crew was called to the scene to make safe with the wire that also was knocked down.
