A man has been taken to hospital after a stabbing in Southport, the second incident in the suburb overnight.

Police were called to Hospital Boulevard around 1.15am on Thursday following reports of a male armed with a man.

On arrival, officers found a man who had suffered a minor stab wound to his chest.

It’s believed the man had been walking near a bus stop when he saw a man he knew, before a physical altercation broke out.

The 37-year-old Southport man was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Investigations to locate his alleged attacker are continuing, but Police don’t believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
