Man suffers serious burns in workplace fire on northern Gold Coast

Police are investigating a boat fire at a commercial business in Hope Island.

Emergency crews rushed to John Lund Drive around 5.30pm on Tuesday following reports a boat had erupted into flames.

Upon arrival, they found a 29-year-old Coombabah man suffering serious burns to his leg.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Detectives are now appealing for anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam vision of John Lund Drive around the time of the fire, to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
