A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a crash on the M1.

Around 6.25pm on Thursday, a white Toyota ute that was towing a trailer lost control on the motorway at Coomera, colliding with a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The male rider had significant leg injuries with Police forced to provide tactical first aid before paramedics arrived.

The 27-year-old Kingston man was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Toyota, a 27-year-old Surfers Paradise man was not injured in the accident.

He is assisting Police with inquiries, with investigations continuing.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or who has relevant dashcam vision is urged to contact Police.
