A man has been arrested on the Gold Coast over the alleged murder of a man in Logan.

The 35-year-old victim was shot dead in Hugh Muntz Park at Beenleigh around 10.30pm on Tuesday.

The alleged gunman fled the scene in a stolen white Kia Stonic sedan, bearing stolen registration plates, shortly after the shooting.

Police tracked the vehicle to Kumbari Avenue in Labrador where a Tyre Deflation Device was successfully deployed on Jabiru Island.

The vehicle continued for a short distance before being dumped at the intersection of Hope Island Road and Helensvale Road in Hope Island.

The driver fled the scene on foot, but was sniffed out nearby a short time later with the help of the dog squad who found him hiding under water amongst the reeds near Saltwater Park.
