One of the Gold Coast’s most famous theme parks has unveiled its new $50 million Atlantis Precinct, just in time for the Christmas school holidays.
After more than three years in the making, Sea World today launched two of the most anticipated rides in the theme park’s history, with the Leviathan and Trident attractions joining the Vortex to officially complete the precinct.
The Leviathan is a modern wooden rollercoaster, described by the theme park as an “impressive tower of timber taking guests on a thundering quest where they reach speeds of up to 80km/h, experiencing exhilarating turns, crossovers, drops and dips”.
While the Trident is Australia’s tallest slide tower, which towers 42m above the sea, spinning thrill seekers at 38km/h.
Village Roadshow CEO Clark Kirby said the New Atlantis precinct is a game changer for Sea World, with the three world-class rides complimented by “unparalleled ride theming and immersive guest experiences”.
“I am incredibly proud and excited to officially open the Leviathan and Trident rides at Sea World, our team have done an outstanding job in creating this truly unique precinct,” he said.
“The Leviathan is a spectacular experience with guests embarking on a journey from the moment they enter the precinct passing by an enormous 9-metre Atlantean warrior statue.
“They then enter the ride queue which features incredible theming and state-of-the-art technology to fully-immerse them in an underwater utopian before they brave the 909 metre long wooden coaster.
“Standing at 42 metres high, the Trident boasts incredible views of the Gold Coast beaches, skyline and Broadwater to offer one of the most visually spectacular ride experiences in Australia.”
The rides precinct is yet another drawcard for the Gold Coast and is a major boost for the city’s tourism industry ahead of Queensland’s school holidays, which officially kick off on December 10.
