A man has been stabbed in the face in a violent incident in the Tweed, with his alleged attacker on the run.
It’s understood an altercation broke out between two men at around 3.30pm at Tweed City Shopping Centre.
Initial reports suggested it was an axe attack.
NSW Ambulance has confirmed paramedics have transported a man to the Gold Coast University Hospital with a facial injury, however, the spokesperson could not provide his current condition.
Parts of the shopping centre have been cordoned off as police swarm the scene.
NSW Police has been contacted for comment.
