The Bureau has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the southeast, including the Gold Coast.

Damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall are all possible.

The warning is current for residents in Logan, Scenic Rim and Gold Coast council areas.

“The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:50 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Beaudesert and Laravale,” BOM says.

“This thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. It is forecast to affect Canungra by 3:20 pm and Nerang, Mount Tamborine and Tamborine by 3:50 pm.”

The next warning is due to be issued by 3:55 pm.
