An 18-year-old driver is fighting for his life in hospital following a nasty crash in Upper Coomera.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Reserve Road around 5.30pm on Tuesday following reports a silver Ford Falcon sedan had lost control, veered off the road, and slammed into a light pole.
The impact of the collision left the teenage driver trapped inside the wreckage of the sedan.
Rescue crews worked to extricate the young man from the vehicle before he was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant information or footage of the incident or the Falcon prior to the crash to come forward.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are ongoing.
