One person has died and two people have been left fighting for life in hospital following a horror arson attack in Hope Island.

Police allege a man entered a home on Sickle Avenue around 11.45pm on Tuesday before setting it alight.

Flames ripped through the property before firefighters could arrive, leaving the home with extensive damage.

A 44-year-old man and an 84-year-old man suffered life-threatening burn injuries and were transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment.

While a 59-year-old woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries while evacuating the house and was also transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A 38-year-old man evacuated the house and was not physically injured.

While another 38-year-old man was located deceased inside the property.

A crime scene has been declared while investigations continue.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, or relevant CCTV, dashcam or other vision from the area around the time of the incident, to come forward.
