A Gold Coast woman has found herself in hot water after being caught tearing down a regional road at nearly 60 kilometres over the speed limit.

The 20-year-old from Burleigh Heads was intercepted by State Highway Patrol officers after she was allegedly clocked at 139km/h in an 80km/h zone.

The high-speed incident unfolded on September 21 on Veresdale Scrub Road at Gleneagle.

Her heavy foot has come with a heavy price tag, with the woman issued with a traffic infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h, resulting in a $1,986 fine, eight demerit points and a six-month high speed licence suspension.

Meantime, a 16-year-old boy from Logan was caught driving more than 50 kilometres over the speed limit while unaccompanied on a learner’s permit.

The teenage learner was booked after allegedly being detected doing 122km/h in a 70km/h zone on Logan Reserve Road.

The teen copped three separate infringement notices for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h, learner fail to display L plates, and learner drive motor vehicle not under direction of authorised supervisor.
