Multiple fire crews have rushed to the scene of a bushfire on the northern Gold Coast that’s been burning for two days as it continues to grow in size.

The blaze started off Kerkin Road in Norwell around 9pm on Monday, with dozens of firefights working through the nights to contain it.

The fire was slowly burning through terrain which was difficult to access, forcing crews to leave it to burn out within the containment lines.

It’s understood the strong southerly winds picking up around the Gold Coast on Wednesday have caused the fire spread again, with more than 20 crews now on scene working to get it contained.

There are several more crews on the way with aerial assets on standby if needed.

The Queensland Fire Department has issued a smoke warning for Eagleby, Jacobs Well, Pimpama and surrounding areas.
