A woman has been charged over an explosion and fire at a home unit in Coomera that left a man critically injured.

Emergency services rushed to the residence on Fortune St last Monday afternoon after the unit was engulfed in flames shortly after a loud bang was heard.

A 37-year-old man was rescued from the home suffering significant burns to most of his body and remains in hospital in Brisbane.

A woman in her 40s was treated for smoke inhalation while a firefighter also suffered minor injuries when the roof of the unit collapsed.

A crime scene was established with Police treating the blaze as suspicious.

Detectives have since arrested a 60-year-old Ipswich woman who they will allege is known to the injured man.

She has been charged with arson, grievous bodily harm and endangering property by fire.
