Paid parking across the Gold Coast will begin reverting back to a later start time from today.

It follows a shock backflip from Council last month, with councillors voting to scrap its early morning parking fees along our coastal strip following fierce community backlash.

The trial, which extended paid parking from 7am to 7pm, was slammed by early risers, especially those who hit the beach or the gym in Burleigh and at the popular Aquatic Centre.

The revised policy means paid parking will now begin at the initial start time of 9am instead of 7am.

Council officers will be out and about updating signage across the city from today, but motorists are being warned it will take a couple of days to implement everywhere.

In the meantime, drivers are being urged to continue following current signage until new ones are installed at each location.
