Hackers claiming to be responsible for the massive Medibank cyber breach have this morning escalated their threats.
It comes after the health insurer yesterday confirmed it would not be handing over any money to the hackers for the stolen data.
In response, the criminals are now threatening to expose the personal information of customers within the next 24 hours if the company fails to pay the ransom.
Medibank yesterday revealed that 9.7 million people had been impacted, with names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses all accessed.
The nerve-wracking revelation comes as current and former customers launch a class action against the company for financial compensation, alleging it breached the Privacy Act.
