Driver on the run after crashing into Qld train

Investigations are underway after a train was hit by a car in Toowoomba early this morning.

Emergency crews raced to the scene in Malu around 12.30am following reports a Ford Ranger had ploughed into the baggage section of a train.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot before police arrived, with a major manhunt now underway.

Thankfully all 36 passengers on board were uninjured.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with vision to come forward.

Investigations into the circumstances leading up to the crash are ongoing.
