A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man was found dead at a house party in Brisbane.
Emergency services were called to a home in the affluent suburb of Clayfield around 8.15pm on Thursday, following reports of a man suffering critical injuries.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive 58-year-old man upstairs, along with a large group of teenagers at the property.
Despite desperate efforts by paramedics, the man died at the scene.
Police say a 15-year-old boy was located nearby on Barlow Street and taken into custody.
“It will be alleged the pair were known to each other,” Queensland Police said.
Following investigations, detectives have since charged the 15-year-old Clayfield boy with one count of murder domestic violence offence.
He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Brisbane Childrens Court this morning.
“We are still establishing the timeline of what has happened at this address. There were about 30 young people here,” Inspector Jane Healy told reporters at the scene.
“It’s still extremely early and the situation was quite chaotic, confusing and confronting scene when police arrived, so we are still establishing a timeline of what has happened.
“There’s quite a few young people that need to be interviewed, so until we get that done we won’t be able to get a real idea of what has happened here.”
Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have information that could assist, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, to come forward.
