A woman and child have died after their car slammed into a tree in rural Queensland.
Emergency crews were called to Chinchilla Wondai Road at Chances Plain, east of Chinchilla, just after 4pm on Wednesday following reports a grey Mitsubishi Pajero had struck a tree.
The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old Elimbah woman, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.
A 7-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl were airlifted to Chinchilla Hospital, where the young boy died a short time later.
The 9-year-old girl remains in a serious but stable condition.
The Forensic Crash Unit has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
They’re appealing for anyone who may have relevant information or video footage to come forward.
Investigations are ongoing.
