Gold Coast Titans coach Justin Holbrook is adamant he is not nervous about his job and is fully confident in his ability to coach in the NRL.

Reports of Holbrook’s impending demise have grown louder after the side put in arguably its worst performance of the year against Newcastle on the weekend.

Several media reports suggested it would only be a matter of days before the club brought down the axe.

The club has announced a review of the side’s season but Holbrook insists that’s par for the course.

“First of all, I’m just more disappointed in how we played on the weekend. That’s what I’m really upset about and look, in terms of the rest of the stuff, that’s normal. We have reviews every single year at all clubs,” Holbrook told 102.9 Hot Tomato’s Galey, Emily Jade & Christo.

“I’m disappointed how we’re playing, that’s for sure, and disappointed where we sit. But, I’m just going to work hard at trying to turn that around.”

Holbrook is signed to the Titans until the end of the 2024 season after being given a contract extension in 2020.

But he still feels he’s the right man to lead the side out of their rut.

“I don’t feel nervous in terms of all of a sudden I can’t coach. I’m feeling really disappointed that as a club that was trying to get on the up that we’ve gone backwards and I’ve hurt and disappointed a lot of people and I’m a big part of that.

“(It’s a) big learning curve with a real youthful spine and it’s been struggling to win but salary cap is in a good position where we can move forward and improve it, hopefully quickly.”

Holbrook admits the decision to go with an inexperienced spine has not paid dividends but has pointed to a run of injuries that have impacted their time together.

He’s also rejected claims of cultural problems at the club after a social media post by former Titans player Mat Rogers called out Jarrod Wallace for being on his phone post-game while Holbrook was addressing players.
