AFL star Dustin Martin has become the latest victim of car thieves, with his luxury Range Rover stolen in Melbourne.

The vehicle was then allegedly used in a brazen crime spree, which involved the car ramming a police vehicle as officers tried to intercept it.

It all unfolded last week when Martin reportedly lent his Range Rover to a friend, who left the keys inside the car as he went to pay for fuel at a St Kilda service station.

During that time, an opportunistic thief jumped behind the wheel and took off in the vehicle.

Police spotted the car around five hours later, but when officers tried to intercept it, the driver allegedly rammed an unmarked police car and another vehicle.

The driver, a 29-year-old man, and his 22-year-old female accomplice fled the scene but were arrested a short time later.

They have since been charged with a string of offences after police also allegedly uncovered drugs inside the car.
