A man accused of killing his brother and stabbing his mother has been arrested following a major manhunt in Melbourne.
The 32-year-old was taken into custody along Gilbert Road in Preston about 2.40pm yesterday, seven hours after the alleged stabbing attack.
The violent incident unfolded at a home on Willoughby Street in Reservoir around 8.20am on Wednesday morning.
A 29-year-old man was allegedly stabbed at the property before managing to run to a nearby hospital, where he died a short time later.
While a 65-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition with upper body injuries.
Homicide detectives have since charged the older man with murder and attempted murder.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
