The main cast of Friends have broken their silence following the tragic death of their much-loved castmate Matthew Perry.

Perry passed away on Saturday, local time, with the actor’s assistant reportedly finding his body in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home.

The 54-year-old’s death sent shockwaves around the world, with tributes pouring in thick and fast.

However, Perry’s castmates Jennifer Anniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Leblanc and David Schwimmer remained silent – until now.

In a joint statement penned to People, the group said they were “utterly devastated” by the loss of Perry, famously known as Chandler Bing.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” their statement said.

“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able.

“For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
