Three juveniles have been charged over the alleged brutal gang-bashing of a teenage girl in Surfers Paradise.

The 16-year-old from Pimpama was allegedly set upon by a group of teenagers in Cavill Avenue on Saturday night.

Shocking vision of the attack was circulated on social media, showing the group repeatedly punching and kicking the victim as she lay helpless on the ground.

The assault only came to an end when a good samaritan stepped in to break up the chaos, with the teenage girl taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Police launched an investigation and have today laid charges against two Southport girls, aged 16 and 17.

They’ve both been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm while intoxicated and affray in a public place while intoxicated.

A 16-year-old Coomera boy has also been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and affray.

All three are due to appear at Southport Children’s Court on April 17.

Police have confirmed investigations by the Gold Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit and Taskforce Guardian and Digital Intelligence and Community Engagement are ongoing.

They’re appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
