Fire crews will continue to monitor a blaze at Wongawallen, which is expected to keep smouldering for several days.

The fire broke out around midday on Friday near Wongawallen Dr but quickly spread, sparking a major operation across the weekend.

Up to 300 firefighters and around 70 appliances attended the blaze over the last few days, some coming from as far as the Sunshine Coast.

Crews spent the weekend conducting backburning operations and strengthening containment lines, with authorities confident the situation is well in hand.

By Sunday, the blaze was estimated to have burnt out around 180 hectares.

While the fire is under control, an advice alert remains in place between Ruffles Rd, Solomon Lane, Crest Hill Dr, Skyridge Dr and Wongawallen Dr.

A smoke alert is also still in place for Maudsland, Tamborine, Willowvale, Kingsholme, Cedar Creek and surrounding areas.
