A man has died following a horror crash on the southern Gold Coast.
A car collided with a tree on the Gold Coast Highway near Kirrribin St in Bilinga around 2pm on Wednesday.
There are reports the vehicle was split in two on impact.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, however the driver was declared dead at the scene.
No one else was injured in the accident.
The Forensic Crash Unit is now investigating the cause of the crash and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
The southbound lanes of the Gold Coast Highway are currently closed between Surf St and George St.
