Rising Gold Coast Titans star Zane Harrison has ended speculation about his future, re-signing with the club until the end of 2029.
The deal is a coup for the Titans, just a couple of days out from the November 1 deadline, which could have seen Harrison hit the open market for 2028.
The 20-year-old graduate of the club’s Future Titans Program and Palm Beach Currumbin student has played 11 games for the Titans.
He’s rated as one of the most promising young stars in the game, which had put him in the sights of several clubs, including the PNG Chiefs.
But Harrison insists there was never any doubt about where he wanted to play.
“I’ve loved this club since I was a little kid, and pulling on a Titans jersey is all I’ve ever wanted to do,” Harrison said.
“I’m really excited about what Josh is building and the direction this team is heading. I want to be part of that, and it was important to me to stay here and build something with the club.
“I’m grateful for the faith the club has shown in me.”
Titans coach Josh Hannay welcomed the news and says it shows Harrison’s connection to the club.
“Since I joined the club, Zane has consistently spoken about three things – his teammates, his love of the Titans and his desire to bring success to his hometown,” Hannay said.
“He’s one of the most impressive young men I’ve worked with and demonstrates day-in, day-out the qualities we want as a Gold Coast Titan.”
Hannay also dismissed a lot of the talk surrounding the negotiation process, after reports Harrison’s manager was pushing for a deal worth at least $900,000 a season.
“There has been plenty of speculation about Zane’s contract situation over the past month, but what we’ve seen throughout this process is a young man who genuinely wants to be part of what we’re building here.
“His commitment to this club and his desire to bring success to the Gold Coast have never wavered since he became a Titan at 15.”
Harrison’s re-signing follows the recent extensions of Jayden Campbell until the end of 2031 and Keano Kini until the end of 2030.
