The Queensland mother charged with murdering her three-year old daughter has died in hospital.

Lauren Ingrid Flanigan was found unresponsive in her jail cell at the Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre on Friday night.

She was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, however Queensland Police confirmed the 32-year-old passed away on Sunday night.

Flanigan was in custody awaiting her next court date in July after being charged with murder.

The woman had not yet entered a plea after allegedly stabbing her daughter Sophia multiple times in the front yard of their home at Moore Park Beach, north of Bundaberg, last Monday.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner, while Queensland Corrective Services has announced it will undertake an independent review into the incident.
