A man has died after being pulled unconscious from the water at The Spit.

Emergency crews were called to the beach near Doug Jennings Park at around 9.30am Saturday.

Paramedics performed CPR on the man, believed to be in his 50s, however; he couldn’t be revived and was declared deceased at the scene.

Nine News report the man was swimming with his carer at the time.

Police say they will prepare a report for the coroner.

It’s the second drowning on the Gold Coast is less than two weeks, in what is a tragic start to the spring/summer season.

A 26-year-old man from India lost his life at the end of September at Burleigh Beach.
