A female driver is in hot water after driving her vehicle onto the tram tracks in Southport overnight.

Emergency crews were called to the Sundale Bridge just before midnight, following reports of a Haval Jolion on the tracks.

A woman, aged in her 30s, was taken to a local police station where she allegedly refused to provide a breath specimen.

She has since been issued with a notice to appear in court next month for failing to provide a breath specimen.

Her licence has also been suspended.

Specialist equipment was required to remove the vehicle from the tracks.
