A unit has gone up in flames in an early morning blaze in Nerang.
The blaze broke out in the two-storey apartment on Pappas Way just after 1am on Friday.
One man was inside the unit at the time before managing to escape.
Fire crews attended the scene before extinguishing the blaze.
The occupant was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital, suffering smoke inhalation and minor burns to his hands.
It’s not clear yet exactly what started the blaze.
However, a battery is being looked at as the possible cause.
