A Gold Coast man has been charged with a string of offences following an investigation into property and drug crimes.

Detectives raided a home at Pacific Pines on February 19, allegedly finding a quantity of methylamphetamine, drug utensils and numerous used hypodermic syringes.

During the search, a significant amount of copper wiring suspected to have been stolen was also found inside the garage.

“It will be alleged approximately 162 kilograms of copper wiring and electrical conduit were seized, along with tools including bolt cutters and equipment consistent with stripping copper cabling,” Queensland Police said.

The copper wiring is believed to have been stolen from a building site, with investigators now working to see whether it’s linked to a series of recent copper thefts across the city.

A 50-year-old man has been given a notice to appear for various offences including possessing dangerous drugs, supplying dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, and possessing utensils that had been used in connection with a dangerous drug offence.

He is due to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court on 17 March.
