Investigations are continuing after a mother and her 1-year-old baby were found stabbed to death at a home in Logan.
Police made the tragic discovery at a property in Belivah around 7.30am on Thursday after initially being called to reports of a man being hit by a car on a nearby street.
“We are investigating the nature of why that gentleman came to be hit by a car and we also have witness accounts of him running from that house shortly before he was struck by the car,” Detective Superintendent Chris Ahearn said.
“There are some witness accounts that suggest he was running towards where he was hit by the car”.
The 39-year-old man remains under police guard in hospital.
“He’s in a serious condition,” Detective Supt Ahearn said.
Police confirmed the family lived at the property where the bodies of the 38-year-old woman and 1-year-old girl were found.
“We are currently investigating the nature of the relationship between these people and the living arrangements at that house.
“Any issues like mental health will be examined in the fullness of the investigation.”
Police are appealing for anyone who may have footage from Belivah Rd and Beaudesert Beenleigh Rd between 7am and 8.30am on Thursday to come forward.
