Former NRL star Chris Walker is due to front court on the Gold Coast today after being charged with alleged domestic violence offences.

The 46-year-old was arrested after being found hiding from police in the backyard of a home in Currumbin Waters around 8.30pm on Saturday.

“Police attended a Whitsunday Drive address after receiving information a man wanted for alleged … offences was hiding in a back yard,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“Police located and arrested the 46-year-old Currumbin Waters man who is currently assisting police with inquiries.”

Walker has since been charged with three counts of domestic violence common assault and one count each of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence, unlawful stalking, intimidation, harassing or abuse (domestic violence) and wilful damage (domestic violence).

He is set to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

Walker played for several NRL clubs over his career, including the Gold Coast Titans and Brisbane Broncos. He also represented Queensland in State of Origin.
