Police have charged a second teenage boy after e-bike hoons caused damage to sporting fields and public amenities at a sports precinct in Runaway Bay.
A group of teenagers riding non-compliant e-bikes damaged fields at the precinct on Oxley Drive at around 5pm on 14 May, while also setting fire to public amenities.
It’s further alleged the teens threw rocks at community members and police officers.
Following a major investigation, police executed five search warrants yesterday, 26 May, on properties at Paradise Point, Biggera Waters, Labrador and Parkwood.
Officers seized four high-powered electric motorbikes, one petrol dirt bike and one high-powered scooter.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested at the Labrador property and has now been charged with eight offences: two counts each of stealing and public nuisance, and one count each of unlicenced driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and wilful damage.
He is due to appear at the Southport Childrens Court on 3 June.
Four other boys are currently assisting police with further investigations ongoing.
The 14-year-old’s arrest follows a search warrant at a Paradise Point address on 15 May, during which a 13-year-old Paradise Point was arrested.
He was charged with multiple offences including serious assault police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, wilful damage, public nuisance, and traffic-related offences and is due to appear before the Southport Children’s Court today, 27 May.
