Two teenage boys have been charged over an attempted carjacking and the assault of a woman in Surfers Paradise.
Police allege a 42-year-old man was outside a white Jeep Grand Cherokee on Laycock St around 6pm on Saturday night, when a juvenile jumped into the car and tried to start it.
A 60-year-old woman and a child were in the vehicle at the time.
The man then pulled the juvenile out of the Jeep before a struggle broke out, before a second juvenile and a 36-year-old woman got involved.
One of the juveniles is alleged to have punched the female in the face a number of times.
Both offenders fled the scene in a black Kia Rio which was located by officers a short time later on Riverview Parade.
Two boys were taken into custody.
Police have since charged a 17-year-old Grafton boywith one count each of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle used actual violence in company, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst in company in public place while adversely affected by intoxicating substance, common assault in public place while adversely affected by intoxicating substance and dangerous operation of a vehicle, and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.
A second 17-year-old Grafton boy has been charged with one count each of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle used actual violence in company, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst in company in a public place, while adversely affected by intoxicating substance and common assault in a public place while adversely affected by intoxicating substance.
Both are due to front Southport Children’s Court on June 17.
