A man has been charged following a wild crime spree across the Gold Coast.

The drama began around 11.30am on Sunday, July 5 when the 22-year-old allegedly tried to carjack two people in a shopping centre car park on Brisbane Road, Labrador.

He’s then accused of entering a nearby shop and threatening an employee with a knife while demanding his car keys and stealing his Toyota Yaris.

The alleged offender went on to target liquor stores on Eggersdorf Road at Ormeau and Finnegan Way at Coomera, and a tobacconist on Foxwell Road, Coomera, where staff members were held at knifepoint.

He got away with stolen cash, liquor and cigarettes.

The stolen Yaris was tracked by police to Currumburra Road, Ashmore where he was taken into custody just after 2pm without incident.

The 22-year-old Guanaba man has been charged with a total of 22 offences including six counts each of armed robbery and offence to buy or possess S4 or S8 medicines, three counts of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence and obstruct police.

Bail has been refused and he is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, 6 July.
