A quick-thinking couple got more than they bargained for during a late-night hospital dash, welcoming their new baby girl right in the middle of the Browns Plains Police Station driveway.
Officers were returning to the station just after midnight on Tuesday when they were frantically flagged down by a panicked father in a red hatchback.
Inside, his 22-year-old heavily pregnant partner who was in the late-stages of labor.
The man had been transporting her to Logan Hospital when they realised they weren’t going to make it and pulled into the police station.
Constable Jenna Ziviani immediately launched into action, and with the help of a Queensland Ambulance Emergency Medical Dispatcher on the phone, helped deliver the baby in the backseat seven minutes later.
Paramedics then arrived shortly after and transported the woman and newborn baby girl to hospital.
Police have since released body-cam vision capturing the heartwarming aftermath as Senior Sergeant Aleisha Young arrived on the scene to greet the newest, most unexpected addition to the Logan District precinct.
Both mother and baby are reportedly happy, healthy, and resting comfortably at home after their unforgettable night.
