More than 1200 properties across the southern Gold Coast have been plunged into darkness as wild weather sweeps across the city this morning.
Suburbs including Bonogin, Mudgeeraba, Reedy Creek, and Tallebudgera Valley have all lost power.
Energex crews have rushed to the affected sites and are currently on the ground working to restore power as quickly as possible.
The sudden outages follow a large storm cell that tore through the Beaudesert area earlier in the morning before weakening as it tracked east toward the coast.
Despite the initial cell losing some of its intensity, the weather bureau warns that the reprieve may be short-lived with more storm action possible this afternoon.
They say severe storms with damaging winds and large hail are possible.
