The teenage girl injured in a mass drive-by shooting in Logan over the weekend has died in hospital.
Police confirmed the 19-year-old passed away this morning after her family were forced to turn off her life support.
“This afternoon I regret to inform you that a 19-year-old woman from Jimboomba has passed away and this is now a homicide investigation,” Detective Inspector Ian Galpin told reporters.
It comes five days after she suffered critical injuries after being shot in the head outside Fitzys pub in Loganholme during a boxing event on Saturday night.
Three other men were also wounded in the attack.
A 27-year-old Cornubia man remains in hospital in a stable condition, while a 37-year-old Salisbury man and 38-year-old Browns Plains have been discharged.
Detective Inspector Galpin has vowed to not stop until those responsible are brought to justice.
“This was a shocking display of violence that has now tragically claimed the life of a young woman in the prime of her life. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” Detective Inspector Galpin said.
“A young woman has lost her life, three other people have been injured, and we are determined to identify those responsible and hold them accountable.
“We firmly believe there are people in the community who know who is responsible for this shooting, and we are appealing directly to those people to come forward. Someone knows who was involved. Someone knows what happened before, during or after the shooting, and that information could be critical to this investigation.
“If you have information and haven’t yet spoken to police, now is the time to come forward. No matter how insignificant you think that information might be, it could be the missing piece that helps us identify those responsible.
“We are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area, saw the vehicle involved or has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.
“This incident has understandably caused significant concern within the Logan community, and we want to reassure residents that detectives are working tirelessly to identify those involved.
“We will continue to pursue every available line of inquiry, but we need the community’s help”.
