It’s back to school for the tens of thousands of students across the Gold Coast today.

Majority of schools across the city are swinging open their classroom doors this morning after four days of closure due to Ex Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

However, it’s not all smooth sailing, with 40 State, Independent and Catholic schools set to remain shut after either suffering damage in the wild weather or due to still not having any power.

Naplan was also due to start today, but that has now been pushed back to next week to give students time to reset and refocus following all of the disruptions.

Seven schools across the Tweed also remain shut today.

Parents and students can check the latest status of schools across South East Queensland here.
