The daily commute is one step closer to getting a public transport glow-up on the southern Gold Coast.

Starting today, locals will spot the iconic G:link trams cruising the Stage 3 corridor during daylight hours.

This shift marks a major milestone for the extension, moving from quiet midnight trials to active testing amidst the daily hustle between Broadbeach and Burleigh Heads.

Construction partner John Holland is now ramping up “rigorous testing” of everything from signals to station communications.

It follows the project’s first successful journey to Burleigh on April 30, signaling that the 6.7-kilometere track is officially entering its final commissioning phase.

While it’s exciting to finally see the tracks in action, Gold Coasters are being reminded that they are test runs only and all stations remain closed.

Residents and motorists are urged to stay alert and take extra care around the new alignment, as trams will be moving frequently throughout the day.

This intensive testing phase is the final hurdle before the project crosses the finish line.

If all goes to plan, Gold Coasters can expect to ditch the car and board the first official passenger services in mid-2026.
