Australia Fair has long been one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic shopping centres, and it’s finally getting a much-anticipated revamp.

The Southport precinct has received development approval, with construction on the $50-million makeover set to commence today.

The upgrades promise customers an immersive foodie experience, a massive new gym, a new rooftop bar and cafe, and a variety of new retailers.

Australia Fair Centre Manager Ramon Otten says the re-development comes at a perfect time, with trading returned to the centre’s pre-covid levels.

“Trade is positive and we have recently experienced one of the best months to date with our retailers and cinema, and Australia Fair’s redevelopment will only build the momentum of the centre as a must-visit precinct to shop, dine and play on the Gold Coast,” Mr Otten says.

“We know our centre is much loved for our extensive range of services such as the post office, justice of the peace, dentist, podiatrist and medical practitioners, and we are now going to expand our offering with more dining options, shopping and lifestyle experiences.”

The refurbishment will include a massive revamp to the dining area, with the construction of a food and beverage laneway ‘Broadwater Lane’.

The laneway will offer customers casual dining options including South-East Asia, Malaysian and carvery roast cuisines.

The precinct’s exterior will also get a fresh new look to its main façade, as well as an upgrade to its street frontage on the Nerang Street entrance.

There will be a brand-new pedestrian entrance from Marine Parade with lift access, escalator upgrades, upgraded skylights, and a new set of amenities including a functional parents’ room.

“From seniors to tourists and CBD workers, our philosophy has always been centred around offering an accessible retail destination that has everything you need at your fingertips.”

The shopping centre will continue to offer its usual retail stores, as well as a bunch of new options.
